The Bluetooth Feature

First, the PC that hosts the CPS must have a Bluetooth-enabled adapter either built-in or plugged in (typically to the PC's USB port).

Make your radio "discoverable" so that the PC can find it with a radio-user activated Bluetooth Discoverable On/Off button-press, or a Bluetooth Discoverable On/Off menu-selection (see also Bluetooth Radio Visibility Duration).

For radios with no front display only (model 1.5 and APX™ 3000): Pressing and holding the Bluetooth Inquiry On/Off button-press for more than 3 seconds activates "discoverable" mode, which is then deactivated once the button is released.

The Bluetooth-enabled radio must be paired to your PC via the PC's control panel.

In Windows Vista:

a) Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Bluetooth Devices.

b) Click Add Wireless Device, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

In Windows 7:

a) Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click View Devices and Printers.

b) Click Add a Device, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

In Windows 8:

a) Go to the Start screen (Metro desktop); press the Windows key, if needed.

b) Show the Charms bar: for a touch screen, simply swipe from the right side of the screen; if using a mouse, move the cursor to the bottom-right corner of the screen; from the keyboard, press Windows+I, then press Enter.

c) Choose Settings, choose Change PC Settings, then choose Devices

d) Choose Add a Device, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Once the radio is paired and connected to your PC, you must retrieve the radio’s Bluetooth Personal Area Network IP address:

For radios with a front display, the radio’s Bluetooth IP address may be obtained from the radio's Information menu via the Information (INFO) menu-item or Information (Info) button-press,

OR

a) In Windows Vista, click Start, then Run; in Windows 7, click Start, then type in the following in the Search Programs and Files box; in Windows 8, press the Windows+R keys

b) Enter: cmd

c) Enter: ipconfig /all

d) The "Bluetooth Personal Area Network IP Address" will be listed. Enter the radio’s IP address into the IP Address field on the Ribbon's Device Tab.

Once the radio is fully paired and connected to your PC, you can Read from, Write to, or Clone the radio codeplug via the corresponding "Bluetooth" Communication Method.
